Product description

A soliflore vase needs only one thing: to hold a flower without competing with it. This one achieves this with rare elegance. Its quadrangular body in thick stoneware, with softly rounded edges, features a hand-incised chevron pattern on each side, traced into the clay while still supple before firing. The light clay appears beneath the ash-grey glaze, creating a play of matte and slightly rough textures that catch the light. The annular neck, small and precise, is made to accommodate a single stem. A plum blossom branch, a blade of wild grass, an early-season peony. Nothing more. Placed on a shelf, a countertop, or a coffee table, this object has the discreet presence of pieces you don’t notice immediately, but eventually never want to move.

Care: wipe the exterior with a damp cloth; for the interior, change the water regularly as with any flower vase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many flowers can this vase hold?

It is designed for a single stem: a branch, a wild grass or a seasonal flower.

Where does the chevron decoration come from?

It is incised by hand into the still-soft clay, before firing, on each face of the square body.

Can I use it without a flower?

Yes, it also works as an object to contemplate, placed on its own on a shelf or table.

How to use it?

A Japanese container for arranging flowers: ikebana favours a few well-placed stems over a large bouquet.
What it is for: you arrange a branch, a seasonal stem or a few grasses in it to dress a corner of the home.
Place a single stem in it: a plum branch, a sprig of wild grass or an early-season peony.
Set it on a shelf, a windowsill or a low table. It also works without flowers, as an object to contemplate.
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Inside, change the water regularly, as with any flower vase.
Idea: fewer flowers is better: one or two well-chosen stems are enough to dress up a corner of a shelf.
Good to know: change the water every two days and recut the stems at an angle, so flowers last longer.
