Product description

This vase looks like nothing else known, and that is precisely its starting point. Two necks curled like unrolling parchment leaves, back-to-back on a shared dark stoneware base. The surface is not smoothed: it retains the imprint of the fabric on which the clay was shaped, a fine, regular texture that catches the light differently depending on the angle. Whitish spots dot the surface, traces of natural ash deposited during wood firing. Nothing was added afterward. What you see is what the fire decided. Each neck can hold a stem, or remain empty. One higher, one lower: the asymmetry is intentional, embraced, essential. Placed on a table or a low shelf, this object questions as much as it decorates. It is the hallmark of pieces that have been thought through to the very end.

Care: wipe the exterior with a damp cloth; for the interior, change the water regularly as with any flower vase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the whitish marks on the surface come from?

They are traces of natural ash deposited during wood firing; nothing was added afterwards.

Why does the surface have this particular texture?

It keeps the imprint of the cloth on which the clay was shaped before firing.

How do I use the two necks?

One neck can stay empty while the other holds a stem, such as a dried branch, pampas grass or an iris.

How to use it?

A Japanese container for arranging flowers: ikebana favours a few well-placed stems over a large bouquet.
What it is for: you arrange a branch, a seasonal stem or a few grasses in it to dress a corner of the home.
Put a stem in one neck and leave the other empty: a dried branch, pampas grass or an iris.
Set it on the floor or on a low piece of furniture for a sculptural effect, or on its own, without flowers.
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Inside, change the water regularly, as with any flower vase.
Idea: fewer flowers is better: one or two well-chosen stems are enough to dress up a corner of a shelf.
Good to know: change the water every two days and recut the stems at an angle, so flowers last longer.
