This sake set is a silent demonstration of what Japanese ceramics do better than anyone else: transforming the humblest material into an object of haunting beauty. The shinsha glaze, obtained through the oxidation of copper in the kiln, produces that deep, vibrant red known as "oxblood," which exists nowhere else in the mineral world. Its nuances shift with the light, moving from burgundy to purple, from ruby to plum.
The gradient toward pearl gray at the neck of the carafe and the rims of the cups is no accident: it is the signature of the fire, the area where the heat was slightly different and the glaze reacted accordingly. Each piece in this set is therefore different from the others.
A complete set for two, it invites sharing and slowing down. Only one available, for a table that deserves the exceptional.

Where does the oxblood red colour of this glaze come from?
It is obtained by oxidising copper during high-temperature reduction firing, a technique called shinsha glaze.
Is this set a one-off piece?
Yes, there is only one.
How do I serve hot sake with this set?
Place the tokkuri (flask) in a bain-marie at 40-45°C; then wash the set by hand, without abrasive products, and dry with a soft cloth.
