Product description
The kitsune is one of the oldest figures in Japanese folklore. A nine-tailed fox, messenger of the goddess Inari, and guardian of shrines, it has appeared masked in matsuri, in manga, and in the dreams of Japanese children for centuries.
Stéphane Casier grew up with Batman, Spider-Man, and Super Sentai. Masked heroes have always fascinated him. In 2017, he created "Great Kitsune," an imaginary wrestler wearing a fox mask, with his daughter Ina Kitsune by his side. Five years later, the mask maker HIROMITSU crafted the mask for him out of genuine wood, based on his illustration. The circle is complete.
This maekake features this character woven into Nagoya cotton. A figure born from a dialogue between two cultures: one that has been manufacturing since the Edo period, and one that has been drawing since childhood.
Care: Woven cotton from Nagoya; machine wash at a maximum of 30°C and do not tumble dry, to maintain the density of the fabric and the sharpness of the design over time.
