Product description

Mimi is an astronaut shiba inu. He was born in 2018 in the notebook of Stéphane Casier, a French illustrator raised on manga and anime, who has spent years drawing worlds where Japanese pop culture meets science fiction. This little dog in a space suit has become his signature character and lands here on one of the oldest items of Japanese daily life.

The maekake is an apron that has been worn since the Edo period. Cooperage workers, merchants, and artisans would tie one around their hips every morning before starting their work. This one is woven in Nagoya on a century-old shuttle loom, from 100% cotton, with the density and hold of a fabric made to last.

The result: an object that lives between two eras. Traditional in its material, contemporary in its pattern. Wear it in the kitchen or hang it on the wall—both work well.

Care: machine wash at a maximum of 30°C, do not tumble dry, to preserve the density of the fabric and the pattern over time.
